People involved in NMR Spectroscopy:

Traditionally the Laboratory of Inorganic Chemistry (LAC) follows an «Hands-On Philosophy» with respect to the use of its NMR spectrometers.
  • A first involvement is usually in the third semester when students start using Bruker's Iconnmr on the AVANCE 200 instrument to characterize their products synthesized in the «Praktikum Anorganische Chemie I».
  • Students in their last year of undergraduate studies, grauduate students and post-docs are measuring spectra all by themselves. After an introduction they are using the AVANCE 250 and 300 spectrometers and dependent on interest and skill move up to 400 and 500, employing the full range of methods and techniques available for solution and solid-state NMR spectroscopy.
  • Currently, there are ca. 40 registered NMR users of this second kind.

Sometimes «Peak» has a different meaning for Anil as here on a hike in the Churfirsten
In managing the facility, instructing new users, assisting in research-specific problem solving and interpretation of data, the two important people involved are:

Head of the Inorganic NMR Spectroscopy Facility: Current NMR Spectroscopy Assistant: Former NMR Spectroscopy Assistants:
  • Dr. Carolien den Reijer
  • Dr. Ivo Steiner
  • Dr. Beat Müller
  • Dr. Ruth E. Blumer
